Long queue.

“I suspected this will happen when I saw the long queue for vaccination without social distancing.

I’m a person who rarely post about my family, and like keep everything about my personal life private, even to friends.

But looking at the current situation, I decided to break my silence, and write on something that I felt others must know.

My mum and dad passed away a month ago from Covid 19.

They were hermits (just like I am), lived alone in Malacca, and have never ventured out, nor received visitors since March 2020 last year. Then, mid June, my sister took them for their vaccination. It was a happy occasion for the whole family, thinking that we can go back home safely soon.

9 days later, my dad collapsed. Both my mum and dad passed away in the Malacca GH, without speaking or meeting any of their children and grandchildren. Just like that.

The only place they went to was the vaccination centre. They did not go out after their vaccination; their only contacts were their two neighbors (they only talked over the fence), their food caterer ( who merely passed the tiffin carrier over the gate, masked on) and my sister who took them to the centre. All of these contacts were tested negative.

They went to the vaccination centre, got Covid, and died.

Yes, Malaysia is very successful in getting millions of people vaccinated quickly. The government opened super mega centres, to get millions of people vaccinated in a day. Yes, we made it in the international news as being one of the top countries in the world that managed to vaccinate their citizens with amazing speed. But at what cost?

When thousands of people gathered like that, in an enclosed environment, and for hours (some were lucky and got theirs quickly), do you think there won’t be danger of people getting infected?

And if you recall, cases rose exponentially as the the government ramped up the vaccinations. You just need to look at the correlation between the number of cases in Selangor and the speed of vaccinations there.

And people wondered why despite the EMCOs, MCOs, vaccinations, SOPs, we still have cases rising exponentially? Look at where people are gathering throughout the lockdowns. Can you connect the Covid dots?

And as I write this…my husband’s mySejahtera alerted him that he was exposed to the virus a day after his 2nd dose. He, like my parents, did not go anywhere except to the vaccination centre. I also know of others who were exposed to the virus after getting vaccinated.

I want to tell you this: the mega vaccination centres are contributors to the rising cases and deaths of Covid 19 in our country.”
